I had a few questions about how to search for a job." FYI: S/he did not take the job hunt. A: "Well before you schedule an appointment, our counselors would like you to take the Job Hunt Marathon first to teach you the basics of finding a job and how to network effectively. That will help you make the best use of your time during your appointment. Effective today: Students can only schedule job search appointments after completing the JHM Do you have a common question you're unsure of answering? Email it to me at [email protected] LinkedIn Challenge Facts What is it? The LinkedIn Challenge is an initiative to increase traffic and engagement on the CDCNewhouse Internship Group and help students improve their profiles. When will it start? The challenge is six weeks and it officially starts on Monday, October 7th. What will students be doing? Each week, students will have to complete a challenge for points that will be posted on the LinkedIn group and some of them require coming into the office! How will I know the challenge of the week? Whitney will create and display a handout at the front desk with the details of the challenge and the points students may earn if they complete it. Note: Some challenges will not require students to visit the CDC. What are the weekly challenges? A hard copy of the weekly challenges will be posted at the front desk. How can I help? Spread the word! This challenge is great for any student looking to improve their LinkedIn profile. Also, please list the students’ name and the points they receive after they complete a challenge on our LinkedIn Challenge Points spreadsheet in Google Drive. If you have any questions, please email Whitney at [email protected]. Resource of the Week CDCNewhouse YouTube Channel! Link:
www.youtube.com/cdcnewhouse Strategist: Losa :) YouTube Channel Statistics: - approx. 63 videos (not including the unlisted ones) The videos are now organized so that students can find the information they're looking for. Here are some of the updates: - Communications Career Fair playlists, which include video interviews of both employers and students at the event. - An Internship Feedback playlist, where students who have had internships talk about their experience. - A Seminar Feedback playlist, where students give feedback on our very own CDC seminars :) - An Inspiration playlist. Inspirational videos to help motivate students not to give up! Examples include TedTalks, Kid President and more. We are also working on an Internship Advice playlist and hoping to get more Seminar Feedback/Internship Highlight videos added to the list. How you can help spread the word: It'd be great to spread the word about the channel by highlighting our playlists depending on the student's interest in person or via social media.
