"Getting it started is more important than getting it perfect." Whatever "it" is for you: starting that blog, practicing your graphic design skills or just getting organized (btw these are all real examples from people who work here :) ), I hope this quote inspires you to just do "it." Don't get so caught up in the details that you get stuck in analysis paralysis. #Aintnobodygottime for regrets! Remember dreams only work when you do. That being said, I hope you had a relaxing Labor Day weekend. Now don't you wish you could redo the weekend to get started on "it"? =P Why not start with baby steps today? Common Question Sad to say, but we had a horrible NH ambassador tour guide stop by our office last week. It was so bad that we have a wanted sign (thanks to Losa): Q: "What should I say if a Newhouse Ambassador asks me to speak about the CDC while they're on tour?" A: Using CARE, you can give a great overview of the CDC: Connect: "Hi everyone, my name is _________ and I'm a CDC Specialist majoring in ____." Ask: "How's everyone doing?" (before the awkward silence fills in say) "I hope you're enjoying your tour so far.."* *This part of CARE isn't necessary, but I just wanted to try and make it work :). Recommend: "So at the CDC, we recommend students to take advantage of our..." -Internship database, which has over 3,900 communications internships. -Newhouse Network, online alumni database with over 3,000 members. -Free coffee for students in our Sip 'n' Study -Students can schedule an appointment to get feedback on their résumé and cover letter, get networking or job search advice, etc." -We also offer seminars during the semester to teach students how to create an effective résumé and cover letter, how to find an internship, how to search for a job and how to network -student employment opportunities (and feel free to mention how much you loooooove working at the CDC ;) ) Encourage: "Please feel free to take a CDC Factsheet if you haven't already.
